How to recycle with Pico
Tableware
Step 1:
To the best of your ability remove any remaining drink or food content from the product
Step 2:
There are two ways you can dispose of the products mentioned above and this is dependent upon the circumstance of the product:
If the product is uncontaminated, we recommend placing them in your recycling bin. Recycling means your products can be reused to make a new product, conserving natural resources such as timber, water and minerals.

Household compost
If you’re home composting either shred or cut the products up to speed up the decomposition process and bury in the middle of the pile. We recommend not overloading the pile. Composting the products at home can be slightly more high maintenance as specific conditions dependent on sunlight and drainage are required, therefore we only recommend doing this if you have the right environment to.
Garden waste bin
Check with your local council to see if garden waste is sent to an industrial composting facility. If so the products can be placed here at the end of life. We recommend cutting and shredding the products.
To the best of your ability remove any food content from the product.
The kraft paper plates can be placed into the recycling bin. Recycling means less energy is used on sourcing and processing new raw materials, leading to lower carbon emissions. It also keeps potentially methane-releasing waste out of landfill sites

If the product is severely contaminated with food, place into either your garden waste or food waste bin, so they can be industrially composted. We recommend cutting or shredding the products and checking your local council has composting facilities available.
Step 1: If possible clear the food residue from the plates and clean to reuse for another occasion! Try and see how many uses you can get out of them to save on waste & money!
OR
Step 2: Once your plates are no longer fit for purpose, check with your local council facilities to see if they can be placed in your garden waste bin. If so we recommend cutting or shredding the products before placing them in the bin.
Step 1: If possible try and save the placemats to re-use at another time.
OR
Step 2: Once your placemats are no longer fit for purpose please place them in your recycling bin. Reducing the amount of rubbish sent to be incinerated.
Biodegradable: If you are holding your child’s party at an event space instead of your home, they may have a biodegradable waste unit. All of Pico’s tableware, besides from the placemats, are biodegradable and can be disposed of here.
Paper-Based Decorations
Step 1: These items are intended to be reused. Store them flat down, in a dry area and away from direct sunlight to prolong their life.
OR
Step 2: Once your decorations are no longer fit for purpose please place them in your recycling bin. Recycling is a small step with a big impact on the environment, by putting less waste into landfill.
